Spiders, Silliness, and a Princess!
We've started doing some Halloween crafts and reading Halloween books...hopefully it won't get old since it's a month away! This week we made these neat spider cookies and a spider craft.
JC ate every bit of his cookie and JK dropped his on the floor when we were trying to take this picture...it broke into several pieces and we had to make another one. Then he only wanted to eat the pretzel sticks anyway.
The boys favorite Halloween book so far is The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams.

First Field Trip
We took our first field trip on Friday and it was a lot of fun. Daddy got to go and he had fun too. The boys enjoyed touring the fire station! JK was a little hesitant to stand beside the fireman in his full gear!
They also simulated what a house fire would be like and had real smoke (guessing it was dry ice?) and the kids had to crawl out on their hands and knees and run to the mailbox.
The most fun for the boys was climbing on the fire truck! JC actually jumped up and down in excitement when he saw that he was going to get to climb up in the firetruck and sit in the seat!
They also enjoyed ringing the bell! The firemen turned on the loud sirens and everyone held their ears! It scared MG and she cried and cried!

Fall Day Outdoors
We had a fun craft day outdoors this morning. The boys dashed across the backyard searching for leaves to put in paper bags. We then glued the leaves onto cardboard, painted them with red paint, and pressed white paper onto the wet images making our leaf prints. JC had a lot of fun collecting leaves, but then ran off to play...climbing to the top rung of the ladder on the swing set and throwing sand out of the sandbox.
JK, of course, was very absorbed in the whole process and also enjoyed making leaf prints with white paper and crayons too.
We collected oak, sweet gum, gardenia, azalea, and other unknown assortments! JK kept calling me "teacher" and decided he'd like to live at this school and sleep in the cowboy room downstairs. He finally stopped the role play after lunch when I became his Mommy again! Here's the finished project with the paint. I finally got him to go play on the swing set after he did another 3 or 4 pictures.

Here's a picture from last Friday. It was a rainy day and we declared it Pancake Pajama Camping Day...we ate pancakes shaped like bears for breakfast in a tent under the kitchen table. We read Going on a Bear Hunt and other bear books by a flashlight in the dark and stayed in our pjs all day long.
